A root canal is an Endodontic procedure that can be used to restore and/or save a tooth that has been damaged due to decay, trauma or infection. During this procedure, the infected nerve and pulp are removed from the center of the tooth. The tooth is then cleaned and sealed to prevent further infection. Although root canal therapy has the reputation of being very painful, this is not the case. The truth is that infected teeth are very painful. A root canal will eliminate the pain caused by an infected tooth.
